Semax (Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro) is a synthetic analog of the adrenocorticotropic hormone fragment ACTH(4–7), developed and registered in Russia as a neuroprotective agent. Preclinical and clinical research has focused on its capacity to upregulate BDNF and NGF expression in hippocampal and cortical tissues, enhance dopaminergic and serotonergic neurotransmission, and confer neuroprotection in ischemic and oxidative stress models.
